Case Study: Long-Standing Insomnia Improved with Homeopathy
Updated: Apr 17
A 31-year-old male patient visited my clinic on 26th March 2026 with a complaint of INSOMNIA for the past 5 years.
Patient’s Present Complaints
The patient shared that he was not getting deep sleep at all. Even when he lay down and closed his eyes, he used to feel fully awake & aware of his surroundings throughout the night.
He mentioned that even a slight light touch could wake him up easily.
His mind was constantly active with continuous thoughts, and at the most, he felt he might sleep only 1–2 hours, that too without any certainty of deep sleep.
After waking up in the morning, he would feel sleepy, tired, and unrefreshed, and would again sleep after breakfast.
Mental & Emotional State
Being a wallpaper contractor, he was always occupied with thoughts about:
Work planning
Managing labour
Deciding who to send where
He felt that everything depended on him, and no one else could manage things properly.
This led to continuous professional and personal overthinking.
He also had a tendency to:
Get angry easily
Be unable to tolerate injustice
React strongly with family members or others if things didn’t go as per his expectations
He had even taken psychiatric medicines for one month, but without much relief.
Physical Generals
Thermal: Cannot tolerate cold
Desires: Sweets, mutton, spicy food, onion (especially raw), milk-roti at night since childhood
Thirst: 2–2.5 litres/day
Tongue: Moist, white-coated
Salivation: Sometimes at night
Sweat: More in armpits, slightly offensive
Stool: Early morning (sometimes at night), but unsatisfactory feeling—as if not fully clear
Urine: Wakes up 3–4 times at night (non-diabetic)
Energy: Morning lethargy, weakness, lack of freshness
Past & Family History
Past accident while riding a scooty; rod inserted in right leg (now removed)
Mother is diabetic
Impact of long term Insomnia on Life
Due to poor sleep, his daily routine, energy levels, and even married life were getting impacted.
Treatment & Progress
After detailed case-taking, an individualized constitutional remedy was prescribed.
On follow-up dated 13th April 2026,
the patient reported significant improvement:
Sleeping 4–5 hours with better quality sleep
Feeling more refreshed in the morning
No longer needing to sleep again after breakfast
Improved energy and mood
Feeling more happy and active in daily life
Conclusion
This case highlights how insomnia is often linked to an overactive mind and stress.
Homeopathy works by addressing the root cause, helping restore natural sleep and improving overall quality of life—including mental health, relationships, and work performance.
