Case Summary:
A 37-year-old female presented with complaints of irregular, frequent, and heavy menstrual bleeding due to PCOD & Uterine Fibroid since 2022. The bleeding occurred every 7–10 days , beginning with spotting and progressing to profuse flow, significantly affecting her daily life and overall health.
Breathlessness from just a few steps at home
Recurrent cold & cough
Acne
Skin rashes
Low back pain
Leg pain
Clinical Background:
Patient came with USG TVS (March 2025) showing a bulky uterus, thickened endometrium (17 mm), and PCOD. A repeat scan (September 2025) revealed a small intramural fibroid (8×7 mm) with endometrial thickness of 10 mm. She also had a history of endometrial polyp (operated), high prolactin, and low serum iron.
The patient had undergone multiple IVF and IUI attempts but conceived naturally in 2021. She had a past history of pulmonary tuberculosis during her school years (Class 12), which led to significant lung damage. As per pulmonologist evaluation, nearly 50% of lung function was compromised, causing breathlessness on minimal exertion. She also had a history of hemorrhage in the left eye, which resolved with treatment at that time.
Family History:
Paternal side: Cancer, bronchitis, and diabetes mellitus in uncles
Maternal side: Heart disease and diabetes in grandfather; diabetes in maternal uncle and aunt
Generalities & Mental State:
The patient showed a well-defined constitutional picture:
Thermal: Intolerant to cold
Appetite: Cannot tolerate hunger; develops headache and chest discomfort if meals are delayed
Desires: Spicy food (green chilli), sweets, fish, and rich/oily food (e.g., kheer)
Thirst: Increased (approx. 5 liters/day)
Tongue: Long, trembling
Sweat: Profuse, especially on back and chest
Stool: Constipation, especially after allopathic medication
Sleep: Lateral position with folded legs; dreams of God and deceased persons
Mental & Emotional State:
Irritable, anger difficult to control (may suppress or express)
Deep grief, emotionally sensitive, weeps easily
Highly sympathetic—affected by others’ suffering
Fear of crowds and new places
Anxiety with trembling of hands during tension
Associated Complaints:
Severe hair fall, acne, low back pain (post-Mirena), leg pain, recurrent cold and cough, and breathlessness were present.
Treatment Approach:
An individualized homeopathic remedy was prescribed based on the totality of symptoms. Supportive advice included:
Iron-rich diet and nutritional improvement
Daily sunlight exposure (30 minutes) for Vitamin D
Deep breathing exercises for lung function
Exercises for low back pain and mobility
Guidance for mental and emotional well-being
Outcome After 7 Months:
The patient showed marked improvement across all systems:
Gynecological Improvement:
PCOD completely resolved
Endometrial thickness normalized
Fibroid size reduced
Regular menstrual cycle restored (monthly cycles lasting 7–8 days)
No abnormal or excessive bleeding
No need for hormonal medications (e.g., Novelon, Crena NCR(10) discontinued)
General & Systemic Improvement:
Hair fall improved by ~80%, with new hair growth
Acne resolved; skin clear
Low back pain and leg pain completely relieved
Breathlessness significantly reduced (only on climbing beyond 3–4 floors)
Able to perform daily activities and routine work comfortably
Cold and cough tendency markedly reduced (now only seasonal)
No nose bleeding, hoarseness, or recurrent throat issues
Inhaler use minimal (only 2–3 times in 7 months)
Emotional stability improved; better stress tolerance
A mild abdominal pain remains only on the first day of menses.
Conclusion:
This case highlights the power of individualized homeopathic treatment in addressing complex conditions involving hormonal imbalance, structural uterine changes, and respiratory compromise. Despite significant past lung damage due to tuberculosis, the patient achieved remarkable recovery in both reproductive and respiratory health.
She is now leading a healthier, more active, and emotionally balanced life, with continued improvement expected.
